Dear Boys and girls,

Requesting for people who are good in blog maintenance to help out with the blog? I know many of you blog!!!!! Please volunteer? Im sure you people will do better in this aspect better than the teachers!!

Btw, exams are coming, wish all of you the best!! All those who failed terribly wil be banned from basketball!!! why, you might ask??? Cause i believe only smart players excel in basketball. Heh. Its true!!! look at the live example...*ahem*...i'm referring to myself.

The league will continue after the exams. I believe there is only 2 games left, the boys game. Training will resume during holidays. But maybe not intensive yet. But need you guys to work on your fitness because the exams are not doing you body any good! I believe a lot of you snack in between your studying periods!

Upcoming fun for non school team players

Dear C boys and girls,

By now, you should have know who has made it into the 2010 team list. I have shared with the C girls after we have announced the team list. Will now repeat what I have to say to you guys.

It is normal to be disappointed after knowing the results. So what is next after the announcement? Of cos, you need to improve yourself and continue to work hard so that you can make it into the team next year. Basketball is a competitive sport (not only basketball, but also for other sports like hockey and soccer), thus we can only select the best to represent the team. How do we select the 12 players?

1) skills

2) attitude

3) commitment

Some of you might have doubts on why you were not selected despite turning up for CCA regularly and having made improvements. From my own personal view ( can check with the other basketball teachers as well), there are many of you fighting for the same position. Thus besides looking at physical advantage, we also compare the skills that is needed for that particular position. But what if im fast, i can shoot but still not selected? We have to look at your game play also, some of you can do well in drills, but cannot perform under pressure in games. You cant get the ball in the game, and you stand in the wrong position in the game.

There are many other factors...cant list them all. But whatever it is, continue to motivate one another, most importantly TRY YOUR BEST AND DONT REGRET!

After the compeition season, the non school team players will be playing a sengkang league (form your own groups of 5) amongst ourselves to pit your skills against one another. Please start to form your own groups of fives and start building that team spirit.!!!! more things to come! keep reading!

1) Yesterday's abs sailing was cancelled. Will inform u guys the training session again.

2) CIP for Sec 2's boys and girls:

we'll be visiting the Old Saint's Home on 4th Sept, Friday, 3-6pm.

On Mon, I will pass u the details of the project which needs to be done before we visit.
All of u will have to design simple games props for the old folks among groups.

GYM TRAINING FOR SEC 3

TO Sec 2, 3 Boys only:

GYm training will start in next wed 8/7, after school at 3pm-4.30pm.

All boys will be given a sheet of training template. Please get yourself a black plastic file from the bookshop. It will be a record of your own gym training. But due to the H1N1 schedule, please stagger yourself on Mondays and Wednesdays to go into the gym. It should not have more than 10 person at one time, because there will not be enough machines for usage too. Bring a towel along for hygiene purposes and be in proper attire. There will be a gym instructor in. I will take you for the first session to familiarise you with the kind of exercises to be done.

gym training dates : Every Mon and Wednesdays. If training resumes, gym training will be on Wednesdays.

Timing: Own timing after school since we cannot have so many in at the same time.

Please sign your attendance with the gym instructor. I will put a file inside.

The B boys have been doing quite well in the converse pre season match and geylang serai cc match! I'm proud to announce TEAM SENGKANG has made it into the finals against christ church secondary! THe match will be on at Geylang serai CC on this Sat 6/12/08, 5pm! Do come down and support!

As for the converse pre season match, the seniors have been winning every single match since this Monday. We shall wait and see if they manage to get into finals this time round.
I was personally rather impressed by the defence put up by the team yesterday against Springfield sec. It has been so long since i last saw such excellant defense. With the excellant defense, you guys will definitely go far in next year's B div. Also, I have seen vast improvement from Fangqi, Jiawei, Ivan, etcetc..you guys rock!

And the C boys themselves are improving too, winning the team from Johore Bahru on Wednesday 3/12/08 in SBC. Can anyone provide more info on this match as I was not there?
Lastly, before i post out some photos ( long time no photos already hor?), just to comment that the sengkang team dynamics are getting better, so keep it up. Ask those who have not been turning up for training to come for trg! Also, submit your camp forms! No forms, no camp! Mdm Tan will be consolidating next Tues!

Due to the B boys participating in the Yuying tournament, there will be some changes for the training next week from 1/12/08 onwards. The changes are in bold, red font.

1/12/08 (Mon) - Cancelled

3/12/08 (Wed) - Report to Singapore Basketball Centre at 10.15am for a friendly match with the Johore team.

4/12/08 (Thurs) - Train from 1:30pm to 3:30pm

BUDDY SYSTEM

Hey boys,
I want everyone to inform me or Ms Sem when u have something urgent or cant attend training.

I dont want this incident to happen whereby u dont come for training and we dont even know about it and your friends dont even know the reason.

If u cant come and do not have our (me and ms sem) numbers, either u leave a msg here in the tagboard or let your buddy know.

No matter what, during the training day itself, WE MUST KNOW the reason for you not coming.

So, i have come up with a buddy system, if u cant come for a particular day,

eg.
Han Boon is going to Europe,
Jun Chin & Yu Lin to China,
u have committee meeting,
detention,
TOLC,
Remedial
Sick - produce mc
etc.

u MUST inform your buddy and he will let us know during the training about your absence.

(working is not a reason, u have to try to rescheudule your working time with our basketball training coz the holiday attendance will be included for next year and I want everyone to have at least 75%)

Then your attendance will be accounted for when you have a VALID reason.

Hi boys,

I keep hearing some of you saying "teacher, got many people not going training today, so i dowan to go also." This is the most invalid excuse on earth! So pls, turn up for training even though your best friend is not around.

People who is injured, do take the initiative to either inform Ms Sem/Mdm tan. Because we also need to assess how serious is your injury. Some exercises can be done without aggravating your current injury.

In order to make basketball the niche sport of Sengkang, we need all your help in being united. Some people might say that there is no bonding among ourselves, but in order to have bonding, everybody have to make the effort. It is not only a few people's effort, but the whole team's effort.

There will be a camp after your exams. Hopefully, we can make the camp a success. The sec 3's will help out in running the camp. Will keep you guys posted. Meanwhile, for those who failed common test, there should be a balance in everything that you do. Study when you need to, play hard when u need to. It is not easy but well, life is not always plain-sailing ya?

Sorry been wanting to post this but busy lately....

Just wanted to say that after going for a few matches of the North Zone, I am impressed by the spirit and hardwork displayed by the C boys.

The 'never-say-die' attitude shown during the matches, the teamwork and undaunted by the 'better' teams have impressed me greatly.

Keep it up, C boys!

Although we have not been selected for the second round, it's through the matches that u boys have built up the team work, the cooperative and caring spirit for one another and the skills learnt during the period are more memorable.

Everyone must be present. Yesterday attendance was rather bad. Pls train extra hard for the coming C boys north zone.

I will see if coach is free this fri, then we can have another training. Will inform damien to let all of u know.

It was quite fun as our basketball boys have played few basketball games with the China students. Can see that our boys really enjoyed themselves. :p

I have to give the C boys credit for fighting all the way in the semis despite losing 15 points during the 2nd quarter. They chase all the way till 32-32 before losing 37-32 in the last 2 minutes. Good effort. But must work more on those areas u all are weak in as mentioned during the debriefing.

Monday training (9/6/2008) changed timing to 2-4pm. Please take note. All Sec 1 and 2's to attend.

P/s: Yubin (MUST!), shilong, Lester, Ivan etc and any Sec 3's can drop by to give the C boys some guidance as coach will not be coming on that day.

We are a Semi-Professional Basketball Club in Singapore and we will be hosting an International Basketball Tournament in June this year compromising of a Singapore team, 2 professional from Malaysia teams and a professional Indonesian team. Our Singapore ’s team is called Cagers and it is comprised of the Top Youth Basketball Players in Singapore . Some of them are ear-marked to participate in the coming Youth Olympics.

We are inviting your school to participate in this exciting event and we will also be running a 3-on-3, 1-on-1 and Hip hop dance contest. Cash prizes worth thousands of dollars are up for grabs. The following are some details:

3-on-3 basketball challenge (age 13 and 14) (boys category and girls category)

1-on-1 basketball challenge (age 15, 16 and 17) (boys category and girls category)

Hip hop dance contest (open category)

Schools will be grouped into 4 zones and the preliminary rounds shall be held at each zone from May 20th-24th while the finals will be held at the main event, June 6th-8th at Jurong East Sports Hall & Recreation.

And I can see the fighting spirit shown during the last 2. I saw how our boys still trying very hard to shoot and they were defending very well!!!! Well done, boys. A pat on your back. All these will remain as good memories in your secondary days.

7 April Mon Leave class: 1.15pm Board bus: 1:45pm

9 April Wed Board bus: 3pm

Please do not leave the class earlier.

2) Sec 1, 2's, please leave the classroom at 1230pm for your lunch, gather at the porch area (in front of office) at 1pm sharp to board bus. Sec 2, please come and take the basketballs from me. Thanks.
